Airport AAM Masterclass Concludes in Rome with Strong Momentum for Future Editions

Hosted by UrbanV and Aeroporti di Roma (AdR), the Airport AAM Masterclass successfully concluded at Rome Fiumicino Airport’s Innovation Hub after four days of intensive sessions, workshops, and site visits that brought together global aviation leaders, regulators, and innovators.
Following the opening day’s high-level discussions, the final two days featured deep-dive trainings, interactive workshops, and networking activities designed to bridge visionary ideas with operational readiness.
A highlight of the program included a surprise guest appearance by Maurizio Paggetti, Chief Operating Officer at ENAV, adding an extra spark to the Masterclass agenda. Participants also enjoyed a networking dinner with live music in the heart of Rome, fostering stronger industry connections in a more informal setting.
On Thursday, delegates visited the Airport Operations Center (APOC) of Rome Fiumicino, where airport officials offered an in-depth look into the hub’s state-of-the-art systems. Every detail of the program was carefully prepared and executed by UrbanV and Aeroporti di Roma, ensuring participants gained practical, behind-the-scenes insights into operational excellence.
The program culminated with a visit to the UV-0 Test Vertiport, where Marco Pellegrino from AdR, Federico Marini, and Calogero Giammusso from UrbanV, alongside Michael Hengst, SITA, guided delegates through the realities of vertiport, air taxi, and drone operations. UrbanV emphasized its commitment to expanding drone operations, demonstrated live through a medium-weight (hexacopter) drone delivery test, showcasing the future of advanced air mobility in action.
Looking ahead, organizers announced that the next edition of the Airport AAM Masterclass will be hosted in Vancouver by Modalis Infrastructure Partners, with dates to be announced soon. The upcoming edition will feature separate tracks for advanced and beginner-level participants, while maintaining joint workshops and networking sessions to encourage cross-level collaboration.
