PAS 2025: Wisk Aero Selects Miami as Key U.S. Launch Market for Air Taxi Services

At the 2025 Paris Airshow (PAS), Wisk Aero announced the signing of two strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), marking a significant step toward bringing autonomous air taxis to Miami, Florida.

University of Miami’s Engineering Autonomy Mobility Initiative (MEAMI)
These agreements are aimed at laying the groundwork for integrating autonomous advanced air mobility (AAM) into one of the U.S.’s largest metropolitan areas.
MOU with Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD)
This partnership focuses on planning and infrastructure for future AAM operations. Highlights include:
Site Identification: Wisk and MDAD will explore the best locations for vertiports across major airports, including Miami International (MIA), Miami Executive (KTMB), and Opa-locka Executive (OPF).
Technical Support: Wisk will advise on infrastructure and flight procedure design, supporting the development of autonomous-ready vertiports.
Integration Planning: MDAD will incorporate AAM into ongoing airport development, power systems, and regional airspace planning—ensuring county-wide AAM readiness.
MOU with University of Miami (MEAMI)
This collaboration focuses on advancing autonomous flight technology through research and development.
Joint R&D: Both parties will collaborate on operations, safety, regulation, and tech development.
Business Development: Efforts will include identifying commercial opportunities within the U.S. regulatory environment.
University Support: MEAMI will offer lab space and facilities, and seek grant funding for shared initiatives.

Miami now stands alongside Houston, Los Angeles County, and Brisbane, Australia, as one of the key launch markets for Wisk’s air taxi services.
